Nigerian retail technology startup Ovaloop Technologies has officially launched an all-in-one Retail Operating System aimed at digitizing operations, curbing internal employee fraud, and generating bankable financial records for micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Africa.
Designed to replace fragmented single-purpose applications and manual paper record-keeping, the platform integrates inventory management, payment processing, accounting, e-commerce, and supply chain logistics into a single ecosystem accessible via web, Android, and iOS devices.
Core Modules of the Ovaloop Retail OS
-
End-to-End Inventory Management: Tracks stock movements from wholesale procurement down to retail sales transactions in real time.
-
Ovaloop Pay Protect: Security architecture that prevents employee theft and sales manipulation by requiring every completed sale to be linked to a verified, confirmed payment before receipts are issued.
-
Bankable Data & Financial Reporting: Automatically compiles cash flow statements, sales trends, and inventory valuation metrics, giving informal merchants the audited transaction histories required by financial institutions for business loans.
-
Omnichannel Supply Chain Integration: Connects local merchants with regional suppliers and an AI-powered marketplace, synchronizing physical store stock with online store inventories.
Unlocking Credit for the Informal Economy
Speaking at the launch event in Lagos, Princewill Mba, CEO and Co-Founder of Ovaloop Technologies, emphasized that lack of credible operational data remains the primary reason small retailers are denied credit by commercial banks:
“Most of these retailers are not bankable. They make a lot of money, but when they come to collect loans from financial institutions, they struggle because their cash flow statement is not accurate. Ovaloop manages your business operation end-to-end—from how you take stock to how you make sales and collect payments—generating the useful data needed to unlock essential growth capital.”
Co-Founder and CTO Daniel Kilanko added that the software operates both online and offline to accommodate regional connectivity challenges, while embedding data encryption and role-based access controls to safeguard merchant business intelligence.
