FirstBank has been ranked as the most powerful brand in Nigeria in the 2026 edition of the Nigeria 25 report released by Brand Finance, a global consultancy specialising in brand valuation and strategy.
The financial institution secured the prestigious AAA+ rating, the highest grade awarded in the assessment, highlighting its strong market reputation, customer confidence, and leadership within Nigeria’s banking industry.
According to the report, the bank recorded a Brand Strength Index score of 92.2%, reflecting improvements in customer perception, operational performance, and long-term brand value.
The annual ranking by Brand Finance measures organisations across multiple sectors using indicators such as market reputation, customer loyalty, business results, and investment in brand development.
Reacting to the recognition, Olayinka Ijabiyi said the achievement demonstrates the confidence customers continue to place in the institution after more than a century of operations.
He explained that the bank’s focus on customer service, financial inclusion, and digital transformation has helped it maintain relevance while adapting to changes in the banking industry.
Ijabiyi noted that the institution remains committed to supporting individuals, small businesses, and corporate organisations through innovative financial solutions designed to encourage economic growth and wider access to banking services.
Also commenting on the development, Babatunde Odumeru stated that the recognition reflects the ability of long-standing institutions to remain competitive by balancing tradition with innovation and customer-focused strategies.
He added that organisations capable of maintaining relevance while effectively executing their business strategies are more likely to sustain long-term growth and value creation in an increasingly competitive environment.
