A coalition of Africa’s leading filmmakers, musicians, and investment stakeholders have urged for stronger regional collaboration and strategic funding to elevate the continent’s creative industries on the global stage. The collaborative call was made during the Africa Music Business Conference in Casablanca, Morocco. Hosted at the Marriott Hotel, the event was organized by the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in tandem with the African Union and Moroccan partners to map out the economic future of Africa’s entertainment ecosystem.
The cross-continental panel featured prominent industry voices, including award-winning Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, Moroccan rap artist Khtek, AFRIMA Eastern Africa Regional Director Mike Strano, and AFRIMA Northern Africa Ambassador Ahmed Soultan. Panelists focused heavily on breaking down barriers to investment and maximizing cultural exchanges across the diaspora. Reflecting on the impact of regional synergy, Soultan shared how connecting with AFRIMA expanded his career beyond North Africa, showing how formal creative networks can open doors to untapped audiences and international commercial success.
