How to retain the best talent

I had been exposed to the best work culture and bosses at the peak of my work experience so I have a positive and vibrant attitude towards my work. I never thought I would work in a toxic workplace until I found myself in an organization.

I remember vividly my first day at work in a particular organisation, my colleague had told me the entire history of the organization and I said to him “Why and what are you still doing here? then he gave his reasons and I thought to myself Dola, “Can you survive in this organization”?

I decided to study my environment and buried myself in the duties and responsibilities that were bestowed on me then I started to count down the days I would spend in that organization.

After I left, I was so proud of my colleagues who dared to say enough is enough, I was happy when I received phone calls from those who had moved overseas and had the opportunity to work where their services were valued and appreciated.

The moral lesson of this story is as employees, we are valuable to any organization we find ourselves in, and we deserve to be appreciated for our services and time, you must also provide the services you have been employed and paid to perform.

Employers should allow their employees to thrive in their organizations the same way the Organisation is growing, employees should also feel they are growing in terms of capacity, capability, and in their career. This is how reputable companies have been able to keep the best talent.

Organizations are built to last, so employees should be also invested in helping organizations grow.
