The Canada-Africa Chamber of Business recently convened a high-level conference at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos, bringing together a delegation of 31 Canadian companies alongside regional policymakers, diplomats, and corporate executives. The forum aimed to scale up bilateral commerce and position Nigeria as the primary entry point for Canadian investments targeting the broader African continent. The visiting delegation featured major enterprises across tech, clean energy, infrastructure, and mining, including organizations such as GardaWorld, Dentons, and Trilliant.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of Zenith Bank’s Group Managing Director, Dr. Adaora Umeoji, the bank’s Executive Director, Mr. Akin Ogunranti, emphasized that Africa is uniquely equipped with the institutional frameworks necessary to translate its vast economic potential into actual prosperity. Supporting this sentiment, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Mr. Babatunde Onigbanjo, highlighted the state’s readiness to offer market scale and talent to match Canada’s capital and innovation. Additionally, Canadian Deputy High Commissioner Carlos Rojas-Arbulú noted that the summit marks a more ambitious, practical era of economic and human collaboration between the two nations.
