In a major push toward economic modernization, the Nigerian Presidency has officially opened registration for a massive, free-of-charge training initiative. The program aims to equip 10 million citizens with essential skills in financial inclusion, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship, positioning Nigeria as a burgeoning hub for global talent.
A Multidisciplinary Roadmap for Growth
Launched by Vice President Kashim Shettima—represented by Dr. Tope Kolade Fasua—the initiative is a cornerstone of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda. While the primary focus is on financial and economic literacy, the curriculum spans a wide array of critical sectors:
-
Technology: IT and digital literacy.
-
Professional Trades: Engineering, trade skills, and service delivery.
-
Creative & Wellness: Creative arts, design, healthcare, and hospitality.
-
Business: Entrepreneurship and enterprise management.
Strategic Partnerships and Implementation
The registration process is being managed by WAWUAfrica, a leading ecosystem dedicated to organizational excellence and women’s empowerment. The program is supported by a robust coalition of international and local partners, including:
-
Global Bodies: The World Bank, African Union (AU), ECOWAS, and the European Union (EU).
-
Technical Partners: NITDA and Alison Women Entrepreneurship.
-
Professional Institutes: Six major bodies, including ICAN, CIBN, and CIS, are collaborating to design certification pathways and mentorship platforms.
Ensuring Transparency and Accessibility
A key priority for the administration is protecting citizens from fraudulent activities. Dr. Nurudeen Zauro, Technical Adviser to the President on Economic and Financial Inclusion, emphasized that the training is 100% free.
The government has urged applicants to use only the official portals for registration to ensure their data is secure and to avoid being “hoodwinked” by third parties requesting payment. This focus on transparency is designed to build a “Trust Infrastructure” around the registration platform.
The Long-Term Vision
This initiative follows a February 2026 Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s workforce. By targeting women and youth specifically, the Presidency hopes to create a sustainable pipeline of wealth creation and digital competency that will stabilize the domestic economy and enhance Nigeria’s standing in the global digital marketplace.
