In a move aimed at providing tangible relief to small-scale operators, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, who serves as Nigeria’s Minister of Power, handed out a total of N100 million in business grants to traders, artisans, and farmers across Oyo State on Friday.
Adelabu, who is seeking the 2027 governorship nomination under the All Progressives Congress (APC), described the initiative as the centerpiece of his “2025 Mega Empowerment and Economic Relief Program Series.” He stressed that the grants are designed to ease the hardship faced by everyday Nigerians and to spark economic activity at the grassroots.
“Empowerment is about giving back to the community,” Adelabu said. “The present economic climate, both nationwide and here in Oyo State, calls for deliberate relief measures for small business owners and agricultural workers. This is a direct effort to lift livelihoods.”
He affirmed that the initiative goes beyond political considerations, insisting that it is a personal act of gratitude and a public service gesture. He added that the relief would help traders, artisans, and farmers who are navigating difficult times.
In addressing supporters, Adelabu urged residents of Oyo State and Nigerians at large to stand with President Bola Tinubu and the APC, expressing confidence that the administration’s policies will translate into tangible gains for the people despite current challenges. He thanked Tinubu’s leadership and pledged continued commitment to the country’s progress.
“President Tinubu is a God-given leader with Nigeria’s best interests at heart. We must rally behind him and the APC as we weather these tough times, with the assurance that relief and growth will follow,” Adelabu stated.
Among the notable attendees at the event were former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Chief Moses Adeyemo; the Babaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaji Yekini Abass; APC Secretary Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite; and Prince Gbade Lana, along with other dignitaries.
Representatives from various groups—including the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Oyo State chapter; members of the Bayo Adelabu Foundation (BAF); traders, and artisans—were also present to witness the grant distribution.
