President Bola Tinubu has announced that Abuja will host the 2025 West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) from June 20 to 21. The summit will revolve around the theme: “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Region.”
In a statement released on Saturday, President Tinubu described WAES as a pivotal event advancing governance and cooperation across Africa. He highlighted the summit as a key pillar of his administration’s foreign policy, focusing on people-centered diplomacy, economic growth, and positioning Nigeria as a leading force on the global stage.
“This summit is more than just a gathering; it’s a decisive stride towards a thriving, integrated West Africa driven by trade, innovation, and above all, our people — our greatest asset,” the President said.
The two-day event will attract heads of state, business leaders, international investors, emerging innovators, and key development partners. They will collaborate on practical strategies aimed at deepening economic integration and fostering regional prosperity.
Notable features of WAES 2025 include a Presidential Roundtable, an Investment Deal Room designed for matchmaking between investors and projects, youth empowerment showcases, and the launch of strategic regional partnership initiatives.
President Tinubu described the summit as the convergence of visionary ideas and practical enterprise: “This is where policy translates into action, and regional ambitions turn into tangible opportunities.”
He extended an open invitation to the international community: “I call on global partners to join us in Abuja as we work to build a stronger, more unified, and globally competitive West Africa.”
