Air Peace CEO Allen Onyema has recognized the government’s efforts to facilitate business operations in Nigeria but is urging the removal of multiple charges imposed on airline operators.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday evening after a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the State House in Abuja, Onyema emphasized the need for easing the burden of numerous fees that airlines pay at airports to enhance the aviation sector’s business environment.
While acknowledging the government’s significant strides in improving business conditions, Onyema stated, “Aviation worldwide has faced challenges since the COVID pandemic due to supply chain issues. This is not unique to Nigeria, but the Nigerian government is actively listening to our concerns and working to restore ease of doing business in the sector.”
He further remarked, “I just had a productive session with the Vice President, and it was clear that the government is committed to promoting a favorable business climate. I can attest to the positive steps being taken, particularly by Festus Keyamo, who is doing an outstanding job in this regard. We appreciate the government’s willingness to listen to us.”
Onyema concluded by expressing gratitude to the government for their responsiveness and reiterated the importance of addressing the various charges faced by airlines, expressing confidence that the government will take action.
