Tony Elumelu is set to co-chair the New African Summit at the Future Investment Initiative, focusing on sustainable investments for Africa’s future.
The eighth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) will take place on Tuesday, October 29, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings and United Bank for Africa (UBA), will join some of the world’s most influential leaders to shape discussions at this global event.
According to the organizers, Elumelu, also the Founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), will co-chair the New African Summit, themed “Infinite Horizons.” This summit will showcase how investments can serve as a catalyst for a prosperous and sustainable future, expanding the boundaries of what is possible for humanity.
With Africa in the spotlight, Elumelu is expected to contribute his insights as both a business leader and a philanthropic catalyst, guiding discussions at FII. He is one of the foremost advocates for Africa’s transformation agenda, emphasizing entrepreneurship and investment in youth as essential drivers of economic growth and development on the continent.
Elumelu will draw on the impact and unique model of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which empowers a new generation of African entrepreneurs, tackling poverty and creating jobs throughout Africa.
On October 29, he will participate in the Opening Plenary panel titled “Board of Changemakers: Banking & Investment,” where he will discuss whether visionary leaders can create new economic systems that embrace innovation.
The forum will also feature senior executives from Heirs Holdings, including Owen Omogiafo, President and Group CEO of Transcorp Group, who will join other global female leaders at the HERizon Summit to discuss how women can drive sustainable supply chains in the energy sector. Osa Igiehon, CEO of Heirs Energies, will provide insights on energy transition and security, focusing on how green investments can power Africa’s future.
Also participating will be Muyiwa Akinyemi, Deputy Managing Director of UBA Group, who will contribute his perspectives during a roundtable session, highlighting the bank’s role in fostering economic ties between Africa and the Gulf.
The Tony Elumelu Foundation will host a plenary session on the sidelines of FII, focusing on youth entrepreneurship and its vital role in creating shared prosperity across the continent.
As a strong proponent of Africapitalism, Elumelu has long championed entrepreneurship as a key driver of economic growth in Africa. He aims to leverage his presence at FII to showcase the continent’s vast investment opportunities.
