The Boeing 737-700 Business Jet formerly listed for sale by the Nigerian government has been withdrawn from the market, according to the marketing firm that handled its listing.
The aircraft, which was previously visible on JetHQ’s website, could no longer be found by reporters checking the platform. In an email to The PUNCH, Laurie Barringer, JetHQ’s Manager of Market Research, confirmed that the company had removed the listing and advised that further inquiries be directed to the Nigerian government.
“We no longer have the listing on the Boeing. You will need to reach out to the Nigerian Government for information as to what has become of the aircraft,” Barringer wrote.
The development follows months of uncertainty over the sale. The jet was initially listed in July 2025 as part of the government’s fleet rationalisation and cost-cutting measures. By October 2025, it remained unsold, despite being showcased on the international aircraft sales platform.
Earlier reports suggested that the aircraft was still available. JetHQ’s Market Research Assistant, Marinell Nuevo, had previously confirmed its availability but directed all inquiries to Barringer. The company later emphasized that details beyond availability, such as buyer interest or offers, are proprietary information.
Prior to its delisting, the jet had undergone partial refurbishment and inspections at AMAC’s Basel facility in July 2024, including upgrades to first-class seating, cabin carpet replacement, and major C1–C2 checks. Market estimates from aircraftcostcalculator.com value a pre-owned Boeing 737 BBJ at around $56 million, depending on configuration and maintenance. The aircraft was originally purchased in 2005 for $43 million under then-President Olusegun Obasanjo and has remained in the Presidential Air Fleet.
The decision to sell the jet, announced by the Tinubu administration in 2025, was part of efforts to rationalise government spending amid growing public scrutiny of national expenditures.
