Salpha Energy, a Nigerian clean energy startup, has raised $1.3 million in funding from Shell-backed impact investor All On, a major boost to its mission of delivering reliable solar power to underserved African communities.
Founded by Sandra Chukwudozie, Salpha Energy stands out as the only female-led solar home system assembly firm in sub-Saharan Africa. The investment will help the company scale its operations, diversify its product range, and strengthen its local manufacturing capacity.
Salpha’s solar systems—ranging from 150-watt to 100-kilowatt packages, complete with battery storage and smart inverters—have already brought clean energy to over two million people, driving affordability and accessibility across the continent.
Chukwudozie, who previously worked with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and holds a degree in economics and political science from the University of Manchester, is leveraging her expertise to address Africa’s deep-rooted energy challenges. Her commitment to designing and assembling solar solutions on the continent reflects a broader vision of sustainability and innovation.
With over 600 million Africans still lacking reliable electricity access, this funding milestone marks a significant stride in bridging the energy gap. All On’s support aims to reduce currency-related risks while empowering local enterprises creating tangible impact.
Salpha Energy continues to rise as a beacon of progress in Africa’s renewable energy landscape, led by a woman reshaping the continent’s clean energy future.
