Nigeria is set to host the 4th African Natural Resources and Energy Investment Summit (AFNIS) from July 14 to 17, 2025, in Abuja. The summit aims to accelerate sustainable growth across Africa by fostering smart, cross-sector collaboration in natural resources and energy investment.

This announcement was made in a statement by Mr. Segun Tomori, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, on Monday in Abuja.

Africa’s Premier Platform for Sustainable Economic Development

AFNIS is recognized as Africa’s leading platform for leveraging the continent’s rich natural and energy resources to drive inclusive and sustainable economic development. The upcoming fourth edition will facilitate trade, knowledge exchange, and the development of enabling policies for the natural resources sector while spotlighting investment opportunities continent-wide.

“The 2025 summit will bring together visionaries, policymakers, industry leaders, and key stakeholders dedicated to unlocking Africa’s full natural wealth potential,” Tomori explained.

This year’s event will unite professionals from mining, energy, agriculture, finance, and policymaking sectors across Africa. The summit’s theme, “Harnessing Local Content for Sustainable Development,” underscores the drive for local innovation and collaboration as a path to sustainable growth.

Strengthening Partnerships and Attracting Investments

The summit is expected to deepen partnerships and attract new investments to Nigeria. The Minister of Solid Minerals Development will showcase ongoing reforms positioning the mining sector as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s industrial growth.

Tomori noted that AFNIS 2025 presents a prime opportunity to solidify partnerships that emerged from multi-billion-dollar deals during the 2023 G20 Summit in New Delhi, while opening new avenues for collaboration with Nigeria’s business community.

A highlight of the summit will be the unveiling of a lithium processing plant, a flagship project championed by Minister Alake. This initiative exemplifies the push for local value addition, promising job creation, technology transfer, and industrial advancement.

A Continental Gathering of Leaders and Industry Experts

AFNIS 2025 will host senior dignitaries from over 25 countries, alongside executives from major organizations such as the African Development Bank, World Health Organization (WHO), Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Africa Finance Corporation (AFC).

The third edition of AFNIS in 2024 successfully convened key stakeholders from mining, agriculture, finance, power, and renewable and non-renewable energy sectors to foster cross-sectoral collaboration.

Building on past successes, AFNIS 2025 continues the important dialogue initiated in 2022 on sustainable natural resource development and the 2023 focus on a just, equitable transition towards a greener Africa.

With its comprehensive agenda, the summit will emphasize the crucial role Africa’s abundant natural resources play in fueling economic growth while aligning with global sustainability goals.
