The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) has officially inaugurated the Senior and Middle-Level Entrepreneurship and Management Course 18/2026 at its base in Oshodi, Lagos. The initiative highlights a strategic shift for the military, moving from traditional resettlement to becoming a premier hub for human capital development and industrial leadership.
Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Suleh, the Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command, performed the inauguration ceremony, describing entrepreneurship in 2026 not just as a career choice, but as a “macroeconomic necessity.” He emphasized that the program is designed to transform high-ranking officers into job creators who can navigate the complexities of the modern global economy.
A Modernized Training Framework To meet the rising demand for business literacy within the forces, the NAFRC has significantly scaled its operations:
-
Quarterly Sessions: Previously held twice a year, the training has been upgraded to a quarterly schedule to accommodate more personnel.
-
Elite Cohort: The current “Course 18” includes 17 high-potential officers, consisting of seven senior-level and ten middle-level participants.
-
Strategic Curriculum: Under the direction of Training Director Brigadier General Isong Akpaumontia, the course focuses on strategic thinking, resource efficiency, and enterprise management.
Bridging the Service-Civilian Gap The Commandant of the Centre, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, noted that the training is essential for cultivating the “innovation, resilience, and adaptability” required in the civilian business environment. By exposing officers to market dynamics and decision-making outside the chain of command, the NAFRC aims to ensure that their transition into post-service life is both productive and seamless.
The military leadership, including the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs, has thrown its full weight behind the program, viewing it as a critical investment in the long-term economic stability of the nation. As these officers move from active service to industry leadership, the NAFRC continues to serve as the bridge between military discipline and entrepreneurial success.
