The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) has announced that Nigeria will make a prominent appearance at the 2025 World Gas Conference in Beijing, China, led by key government officials and industry leaders.
Heading the Nigerian delegation to this triennial global energy event is the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo. According to a statement from the NGA, the minister is also scheduled to speak at the conference alongside other global energy experts.
Joining the minister are several notable figures in Nigeria’s energy sector: Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Farouk Ahmed; Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), Mr. Bayo Ojulari; Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Felix Ogbe; Coordinating Director for the Decade of Gas initiative, Ed Ubong; and NGA President, Mr. Akachukwu Nwokedi, among others.
The NGA emphasized that this strong delegation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to expanding its presence in international energy discussions. It also signals the country’s strategic focus on positioning natural gas as a cornerstone of its economic development and as a key player in the global energy transition.

These companies will be represented at the Nigerian Pavilion—an exclusive platform jointly managed by the NGA and the Decade of Gas Secretariat. The Pavilion will highlight Nigeria’s extensive gas reserves, investment prospects, and progressive policies, reinforcing the country’s leadership in the energy space.
NGA President Nwokedi remarked, “What we’re witnessing is a strategic alliance between the government and industry, unified in the mission to redefine Nigeria’s energy narrative. We aim to present Nigeria as a dependable and forward-thinking energy partner.”
He further stated, “The World Gas Conference 2025 isn’t just an event—it’s a powerful symbol of Africa’s energy awakening. The Honourable Minister’s involvement and the robust Nigerian presence send a clear signal: Nigeria is not only open to gas investment; we are at the forefront of Africa’s energy evolution.”
Scheduled for May 19 to 23, 2025, the conference will take place at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing. The event is expected to draw over 30,000 participants, 600 companies, and 400 expert speakers, all gathering under the theme “Energising a Sustainable Future.”
Reflecting on the opportunity, Minister Ekpo said, “It’s an honour to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the World Gas Conference in Beijing. As we advance the objectives of the Decade of Gas, this platform allows us to spotlight Nigeria’s immense gas potential, strengthen global partnerships, and attract crucial investments that will drive long-term growth and energy security across our nation and the African continent.”
