In a powerful demonstration of its commitment to entrepreneurial wellbeing, Hydrogen Payment Services Company Limited teamed up with Ikeja Local Government and the Office of the Medical Officer of Health to host a transformative health outreach on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Ikeja Local Government Secretariat.
The initiative, themed “Healthy Heart, Healthy Business,” brought together hundreds of business owners from across Lagos, offering them access to critical healthcare services and reinforcing the link between good health and sustainable business success.
The event provided free medical screenings, including blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, malaria and typhoid tests, urinalysis, blood sugar checks, PCV analysis, and more. These services were designed to promote preventive healthcare among entrepreneurs who often sideline their health in pursuit of business goals.
Kemi Okusanya, CEO of Hydrogen, emphasized the company’s broader mission.
“At Hydrogen, we don’t just power payments—we power people,” she said. “We believe that the health of an entrepreneur directly impacts the strength of their business. Supporting their wellbeing is a vital step toward economic growth.”
In a gesture of lasting impact, Hydrogen donated sphygmomanometers and glucometers to vulnerable attendees who lacked access to basic health-monitoring tools. This move empowered participants to continue managing their health beyond the event.
The outreach was a shining example of effective public-private partnership (PPP). By combining the reach and infrastructure of government with the agility and innovation of the private sector, the initiative amplified its effectiveness and impact.
Dr. Tawak O.F., Medical Officer of Health for Ikeja, highlighted the significance of the collaboration.
“This partnership with Hydrogen shows how strategic alliances can transform lives. Entrepreneurs are the engine of our economy, and their health must be treated as a priority.”
She continued, “It’s heartening to see a private company step up not only to support financial systems but also to invest in the wellbeing of business communities.”
One of the attendees, Mary, a trader in Computer Village, expressed heartfelt appreciation.
“Many of us can’t afford regular hospital visits. Today, doctors came to us—free of charge. That means a lot. We’re thankful to Hydrogen and Lagos State.”
The strong presence of Hydrogen’s team throughout the event sent a clear message: the company is not only a financial partner but a committed ally in the holistic wellbeing of Nigerian businesses.
This initiative marks a promising step toward fostering a healthier, more resilient entrepreneurial landscape—where business growth and personal wellbeing go hand in hand.
