Accra, Ghana — Ghana is positioning itself for a powerful showing at the Global Entrepreneurship Festival (GEF) in Akure, Nigeria, this November — an event billed as one of Africa’s biggest gatherings for innovation, business, and collaboration.
At a press launch in Accra, Mr. Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, GEF Board Member and Event Chairperson, called on Ghanaian entrepreneurs to seize the moment and showcase their ingenuity before an international audience.
“GEF is more than a festival — it’s a platform to connect, collaborate, and inspire,” Mr. Adisi said at the GEF Global Business Mixer and press conference. “Our entrepreneurs have the creativity and resilience to shape Africa’s future. We need Ghana’s presence felt.”
The four-day festival in Ondo State, Nigeria will draw entrepreneurs from across Africa for capacity-building programmes, pitch sessions, networking events, awards, and a grand concert celebrating business excellence.
Ghana’s launch event saw heavyweights from the local business scene, including Mr. Richard Nii Armah Quaye and Dr. Hassan Ayariga, pledge their full support for the nation’s participation. It also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between GEF, transportation giant GIGM, and Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) — signalling cross-border collaboration ahead of the festival.
Mr. Adisi praised Ghana’s innovators for tackling challenges with bold solutions, citing their role in job creation and community transformation. He urged more entrepreneurs to register for the delegation and hinted at Ghana’s ambitions to host GEF 2026, a move that would cement the country’s reputation as a hub for entrepreneurship.
Dr. Summy Smart Francis, GEF Project Lead, framed the festival as a chance to rewrite global perceptions of African enterprise. “We’re challenging the undervaluation of African goods and services,” he said. “GEF is where Africa’s best ideas meet the world — and where we show the untapped potential that’s ready for investment.”
With November fast approaching, Ghana’s business community is mobilising — not just to attend, but to lead the conversation on Africa’s economic future.
