The Federal Government has taken delivery of 70 hybrid Jet Mover buses from Jet Motor Company, a Nigerian automobile manufacturer, to enhance the country’s transportation sector. The buses, which operate on compressed natural gas and premium motor spirit, will provide affordable and comfortable transportation for Nigerians.
At the handover ceremony held at Jet Motor Company’s plant in Ajah, Lagos State, officials from the Ministry of Finance and representatives of the Presidential Initiative for Compressed Natural Gas praised the good quality of the vehicles. Dimas Hamidu, Technical Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, commended the company for its commitment to delivering high-quality vehicles.
The hybrid vehicles are part of President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to alleviate the hardships caused by the removal of fuel subsidies. According to Hamidu, the vehicles will help solve the transportation needs of citizens and cushion the impact of rising costs on the economy.
The Federal Government has awarded contracts to different companies to deliver various units of CNG vehicles. Hamidu noted that Jet Motor Company has stuck to the terms of the contract, and the vehicles meet the required specifications.
The Managing Director of Jet Motor Company, Derek Ewelukwa, thanked the government for the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of efficient and comfortable transportation. He highlighted the features of the hybrid vehicles, including two CNG tanks with a combined capacity of 220 liters of gas, a petrol tank with a capacity of 80 liters, and an engine that switches seamlessly between gas and petrol.
