First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has equipped 44,278 entrepreneurs with essential skills and strategies to scale and sustain their businesses for long-term success since 2018.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the bank highlighted its commitment to supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria through its Business Empowerment Sustainability and Training (BEST) Masterclass, a nationwide initiative. The program provides both financial and non-financial support, with a strong focus on women-led businesses.
Speaking on the initiative, FCMB Managing Director, Yemisi Edun, stated:
“We are fostering sustainable business success in Nigerian communities by bridging entrepreneurial skill gaps. This initiative will drive innovation, growth, competitiveness, job creation, and long-term economic stability. George Ogbonnaya, Divisional Head and Senior Vice President of Business Banking at FCMB, emphasized the bank’s dedication to SME empowerment:
“Our BEST Masterclass is a strategic initiative designed to equip SMEs with the essential skills and resources needed to thrive in a dynamic market. By addressing capacity gaps, opening market access, and offering tailored financial solutions, we aim to empower entrepreneurs in Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, and Ondo states for long-term prosperity.”
The program has recently expanded across the Southeast, South-South, and parts of Northern Nigeria, with the next phase set to commence on March 12, 2025, and run through March 21, 2025, across Ogun, Oyo, Kwara, Osun, and Ondo states.
During the training, startups and business owners will participate in comprehensive sessions covering key aspects of business management, including interactive workshops led by industry experts and successful business leaders. Attendees will also gain networking and mentorship opportunities to help them navigate the competitive business landscape.
