The 2025 edition of the Expatriates Business Awards (TEBA) is scheduled for July 6 at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event aims to honor the remarkable impact of expatriates, foreign-owned businesses, and migrant communities on Nigeria’s thriving economy.
At a recent press conference, Miss Odunola Abayomi, Director of Awards, highlighted the significance of acknowledging foreign nationals who have chosen Nigeria as their home and investment destination.
“Unlike many conventional award platforms focusing primarily on Nigerian nationals, TEBA uniquely celebrates those who, though not born here, have planted roots and watched their investments flourish,” Abayomi said. “It is with immense pride and a deep sense of purpose that we welcome you to this historic occasion.”
She emphasized the critical role expatriates play in boosting Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), generating employment, and driving innovation across key sectors.
“Nigeria is not just a nation; it is a vibrant hub of opportunity and enterprise. We see them, we appreciate them, and we celebrate them,” Abayomi added.
The award selection process is currently underway, combining public opinion polls, nominations, and thorough research to ensure only the most deserving individuals and organizations are recognized.
This year’s ceremony promises a night filled with exhibitions, appreciation, music, and comedy, creating a harmonious celebration of cultural diversity and diplomatic goodwill.
The awards, organized by Pun Communications Ltd under the TEBA Foundation for Humanity, began in 2020 as The Ethnic Business Awards. The rebranding reflects a sharper focus on acknowledging the significant contributions of non-Nigerian businesses.
Supporting the event, Irene Samuel-Ikhuolegbe, Head of Marketing and Communication at Aero Contractors Company of Nigeria Limited, stressed the airline’s commitment to the initiative.
“Aerocontractors is more than a commercial airline. With our fully operational maintenance and repair organization (MRO) serving West Africa, we provide a platform for expatriates to bring in their technical expertise, bolstering efficient service delivery,” Samuel-Ikhuolegbe noted.
She described TEBA as a vital platform recognizing the often-underappreciated role of foreign professionals and investors in Nigeria’s aviation and other industries.
“The contributions of expatriates to Nigeria’s economy are significant, and Aerocontractors, as an inclusive and culturally aware brand, is proud to celebrate this value,” she said.
As excitement builds toward the awards night, organizers invite stakeholders, the diplomatic community, and international business leaders to join in a celebration of resilience, achievement, and lasting impact.
“Let the countdown begin. Let the stories of perseverance be shared. Let the champions be honored. The Expatriates Business Awards 2025 is set to make history,” Abayomi concluded.
