In a move to transition student-led ideas into viable commercial ventures, the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA) has officially disbursed a total of ₦3.5 million in support grants. This financial injection is the fulfillment of a promise made to the state’s most promising young business owners during the high-impact 2nd Students’ CEOs Trade Fair held in late 2025.
From Trade Fair to Seed Funding
The grant follows a competitive exhibition organized by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, Muhammad Nuhu Nagaske. The event, which coincided with International Students’ Day, served as a launchpad for vibrant, student-operated enterprises from across the state.
Rather than offering mere accolades, the Katsina State Government, through KASEDA, opted for tangible economic support by awarding ₦50,000 each to 70 outstanding student vendors.
Strategic Objectives of the KASEDA Grant
KASEDA has clarified that these funds are not simply awards but strategic investments intended to:
-
Scale Innovation: Helping students move beyond small-scale operations to sustainable business models.
-
Strengthen Micro-Enterprises: Providing the necessary liquidity for inventory, marketing, or equipment.
-
Incentivize Youth Leadership: Encouraging the next generation of Katsina’s workforce to create jobs rather than just seek them.
Transparency and Disbursement
KASEDA has confirmed that the final list of beneficiaries has been verified and processed. In a statement released to the public, the agency advised all selected student entrepreneurs to monitor their bank accounts, as the ₦50,000 credits have been initiated.
“This intervention reflects the Katsina State Government’s continued commitment to empowering students through practical support, not just encouragement,” the agency stated.
A Collaborative Blueprint for Growth
The success of the 2nd Students’ CEOs Trade Fair highlights a growing synergy between various arms of the Katsina State Government and private stakeholders. By integrating student matters with enterprise development, the state is building a pipeline of experienced entrepreneurs who will drive inclusive economic growth long after their graduation.
