Dettol, Nigeria’s trusted name in hygiene solutions, has reaffirmed its long-standing dedication to public health by partnering with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) for the 65th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference.

The event, which recently took place in Katsina State, gathered medical experts, health administrators, and policy influencers under the theme: “Universal Standards of Patient Care and Healthcare Provider Well-being.” Discussions centered around improving healthcare delivery through consistent clinical standards and stronger health systems.

As a key sponsor, Dettol took the opportunity to align its mission with that of Nigeria’s medical professionals—placing emphasis on the critical role of hygiene in disease prevention and healthcare sustainability. The brand spotlighted how antibacterial protection contributes not only to individual health, but also to collective public safety.

Dr. Owoyele Ademolu, CEO of Harley and Rainbow Specialized Labs, represented the brand with a presentation titled: “Community Health Resilience: Hygiene’s Role in Preventing Outbreaks.” He highlighted the impact of regular hygiene practices, particularly in densely populated environments vulnerable to infections.

According to Dr. Ademolu, antimicrobial hygiene products, such as Dettol, are essential in disrupting disease transmission—especially on frequently touched surfaces in urban areas. He noted that Dettol Original, when used consistently, reinforces the body’s natural defenses, offering up to 12 hours of germ protection.

“In Nigeria’s crowded cities—where limited infrastructure and water scarcity pose serious risks—hygiene becomes more than a habit; it’s a vital form of protection,” he explained. “Dettol’s contribution extends beyond products—it’s about strengthening public resilience and supporting communities where access to healthcare might be delayed.”

Speaking on behalf of Reckitt Nigeria, Cassandra Uzo-Ogbugh, Head of External Affairs for Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasized the brand’s unwavering partnership with medical professionals.

“It’s a privilege to support the NMA during this pivotal conversation on healthcare reform,” said Uzo-Ogbugh. “At Dettol, we’ve always maintained that prevention is the first step toward wellness, and by working hand-in-hand with the medical sector, we can champion that message nationwide.”

Since its beginnings in 1933, Dettol has transformed from a hospital-grade antiseptic to a household necessity globally recognized for promoting hygiene. In Nigeria, the brand continues to evolve—offering a diverse range of solutions that cater to everyday realities, from schools and offices to hospitals and homes.

With a focus on innovation and public education, Dettol remains at the forefront of preventive healthcare—supporting families, communities, and professionals in building a healthier tomorrow.
