The Young Ministers Retreat (YMR) 2025 concluded at Redemption City with a historic pivot that extended its reach from spiritual awakening to economic empowerment. In a landmark partnership with Premium Trust Bank, the retreat awarded ₦24 million (approx. $15,000+) in business grants to over 1,000 young entrepreneurs, marking a new era for the global movement.
From Fasting to Financing
Known for nearly a decade as a rigorous 72-hour prayer and fasting gathering, the 2025 edition integrated “marketplace ministry” into its core DNA. Convener Pastor Daniel Olawande (P.Daniel), Coordinator of the RCCG Youth Evangelists, explained that the initiative is designed to raise a “New Army” that is not only spiritually vibrant but also economically resilient.
“While we ensure spiritual growth, we must ensure young Nigerians are financially capable of growing their businesses. This is how we contribute to the economic growth of the country,” Olawande stated.
A Transparent Selection Process
To ensure the funds reached genuine ventures, the retreat implemented a rigorous vetting system:

One of the top beneficiaries, Mary Anu, received a ₦2 million grand prize, describing the grant as a life-changing boost for her business.
Premium Trust Bank’s Strategic Role
The Executive Director of Digital and E-Business at Premium Trust Bank, Shina Atilola, personally oversaw the distribution. The bank’s involvement underscores its commitment to youth empowerment and digital innovation, leveraging its “phygital” banking model to support the next generation of Nigerian job creators.
Looking Ahead: Theme 2026
With over 300,000 physical attendees and millions more joining virtually this year, YMR has solidified its position as one of the world’s largest youth gatherings. As the “New Army” departs, the vision for next year has already been cast.
