The Bayelsa State Government has unveiled the Bayelsa E-Commerce Entrepreneurship Program (BEEP 2025)—a transformative initiative aimed at training 500 entrepreneurs to thrive in the fast-growing digital economy. The flagship program is part of the MPOWER500 initiative, which focuses on economic inclusion, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.
The official launch is set for June 17, 2025, at the Government House Banquet Hall in Yenagoa, with Governor Douye Diri presiding.
Driving Inclusive Prosperity Through E-Commerce
Speaking at a press briefing, Ebiowou Kolu-Obiyal, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, emphasized the strategic alignment of BEEP with Bayelsa’s Prosperity Agenda.
“BEEP will not only empower our youths and women but also contribute significantly to Bayelsa’s economic growth,” she said. “We call on all entrepreneurs and business leaders to seize this opportunity and help build a more inclusive economy.”
Bridging the Digital Divide for Local Businesses
According to Owanari Henry, Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Investment, BEEP 2025 is designed to move MSMEs, youth-led startups, and women-owned businesses into Nigeria’s thriving digital marketplace.
“Many Bayelsan businesses are being left out of Nigeria’s digital transformation due to lack of access to tools, training, and viable markets,” Henry stated. “BEEP is our response—to bridge this digital divide and give local enterprises the tools to scale.”

Participants of BEEP 2025 will benefit from:
-
Expert-led training in e-commerce fundamentals
-
Mentorship programs from industry professionals
-
Access to digital tools, payment systems, and branding strategies
-
Marketplace integration and logistics support
-
Funding opportunities and investor connections
