The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, recently led a high-level delegation to inspect Prime Atlantic Safety Services (PASS), a leading Nigerian firm specializing in aviation security, maritime safety, and training. The visit, which took place over the weekend, underscored the federal government’s commitment to strengthening aviation safety and capacity building in the country.
Keyamo, accompanied by the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Ms. Olubunmi Kuku, and other senior officials, highlighted the government’s ongoing support for innovation and safety standards in the aviation sector. He emphasized that the visit marked a significant step in the government’s dedication to advancing both local and international safety training standards.
“The federal government is committed to fostering partnerships that elevate the standards of aviation safety and training. Our collaboration with pioneering institutions like PASS reflects our focus on ensuring that Nigeria meets globally competitive aviation standards,” Keyamo said.
During the tour of PASS’s state-of-the-art facility in Ipara, Ogun State, Keyamo commended the company’s role in advancing safety training across Nigeria’s aviation and maritime sectors. He also stressed the importance of local expertise in safeguarding the nation’s airspace and waterways, pointing to PASS’s contributions to both sectors.
Folake Soyannwo, the Managing Director of PASS, shared insights into the company’s background and mission. Founded in 2007 with the support of a Danish partner, PASS has gained recognition for its rigorous training programs, which comply with international safety standards. Soyannwo also revealed that PASS is working to secure certification from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), further enhancing Nigeria’s reputation for excellence in safety training and global compliance.
Ayo Otuyalo, Group Managing Director of PASS, emphasized the institution’s commitment to producing highly trained personnel for both the aviation and maritime sectors. He stressed that anyone working offshore should undergo training at PASS to ensure the highest safety standards are met.
The delegation toured various PASS training facilities, including advanced simulation centers designed to provide realistic emergency response and safety training. The visit allowed Keyamo and the FAAN executives to witness firsthand the innovative technologies and methodologies used by PASS to deliver comprehensive safety programs.
As Nigeria positions itself as a hub for aviation excellence in Africa, this inspection reaffirms the federal government’s agenda to elevate aviation standards, support local training providers, and promote international best practices within the industry.
