The ninth edition of the Ikoyi Baptist Church Business and Career Fair, held on August 30–31, 2025, attracted thousands of participants from across Lagos and beyond, solidifying its reputation as a premier platform for professional growth and entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
Originally a local initiative, the fair has evolved into a national hub where faith intersects with career development, offering opportunities in a country where formal professional pathways remain limited. This year’s theme, “Maximise Your Ground”, drawn from Luke 12:16, encouraged attendees to leverage their God-given talents, skills, and resources to achieve their full potential.
Workshops, masterclasses, and mentorship sessions catered to participants at various stages of their careers and business journeys. Facilitators provided practical guidance on entrepreneurship, business scaling, and career planning, while attendees connected with corporate brands, successful entrepreneurs, and industry experts.
For the first time, the fair featured a grant program aimed at helping promising entrepreneurs grow their businesses. Programmes Director Esosa Osagiede explained that grants were awarded through a rigorous selection process involving professionals from Lagos Business School and other institutions to ensure transparency and impact.
Highlighting the church’s broader vision, Dr. Uwuemedimo Esiet noted that the initiative aims to instil skills, vision, and purpose in participants, fostering economic growth and professional advancement within a Christ-centred framework.
The fair included six masterclasses—three dedicated to career development and three to entrepreneurship—offering tailored guidance for professionals and business owners. Participants also engaged directly with SMEs, vendors, and corporate brands, exploring partnerships and emerging opportunities in Nigeria’s expanding economy.
Over the years, the fair has yielded tangible results, with many attendees launching businesses or advancing in their careers thanks to the church’s training and mentorship programs.
The event’s inclusive approach extends beyond Nigeria’s borders, welcoming participants from across the world. As Ame-Ogie emphasised, the fair seeks to equip individuals with skills, confidence, and resources to make meaningful contributions to their communities, while always operating from a God-centred perspective.
By combining mentorship, practical training, grant support, and networking opportunities, the 2025 edition of the Ikoyi Baptist Church Business and Career Fair continues to champion entrepreneurship and professional growth, helping participants unlock their full potential.
