Xavier Muron, the Country Director of Agence Française de Développement (AFD) in Nigeria, has called on Nigerian businesses to seize the opportunities provided by AFD-funded projects to support the country’s development.
Muron made the remarks during an AFD-funded project workshop organized by the Franco-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in collaboration with AFD in Lagos.
He highlighted that AFD plays a vital role in financing, supporting, and accelerating transitions to create a fairer and more resilient world. Muron emphasized the importance for Nigerian businesses to collaborate with French companies to enhance their offerings and engage with AFD projects aimed at advancing national development.
Florent Mangin, Head of the Economic Department and Regional Economic Counselor of France, revealed that AFD plans to invest approximately one million euros over the next year to promote economic growth in Nigeria.
Mangin acknowledged that while some French businesses had previously exited Nigeria due to security concerns and economic challenges, they are now considering returning, driven by improved economic policies and political stability in the country.
He stressed that fostering partnerships and combining the expertise of both Nigerian and French businesses would significantly contribute to Nigeria’s development.
