Olam Agri, a leading agribusiness, has committed to a four-year development plan, investing approximately ₦6.5 billion in corporate social responsibility and sustainability initiatives. These initiatives aim to drive socioeconomic growth in communities where Olam Agri operates, focusing on five key areas: supporting farmers, enhancing education and skill development, economic empowerment of women, promoting health and nutrition, and reducing carbon emissions.
The investment is part of Olam Agri’s award-winning Seeds for the Future program, designed to foster a brighter future for all. The expanded commitment will support sustainable development across Olam Agri’s business portfolio from 2024 to 2028.
In 2024, Olam Agri plans to invest $1.07 million in initiatives, including education grants, scholarships, and empowerment programs. The four-year plan also includes smallholder farmer capacity building, rural road rehabilitation, and distribution of harvesters to reduce post-harvest loss.
Anil Nair, Managing Director of Olam Agri in Nigeria, stated, “We are committed to investing in initiatives that positively transform lives and impact the livelihoods of our host communities while scaling food production in the country.”
A high-level delegation led by Nair paid a courtesy call to Lagos State Executive Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to discuss partnerships for expanded food production and job creation. Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Olam Agri for driving productivity in the agricultural value chain and stressed the need for continued efforts to ensure food security.
