The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has unveiled a nationwide social media competition, urging young Nigerians to creatively showcase the role American brands and innovations play in their everyday experiences. The campaign, titled “Made in America, Loved in Nigeria,” officially kicked off Monday and targets Nigerians between 18 and 45 years old.
Participants are invited to submit original, 90-second vertical videos highlighting how American products, services, or ideas impact homes, businesses, or communities. To qualify, entries must be posted on YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook, tagged @USinNigeria, and include the hashtags #MadeInAmericaLovedInNigeria and #TradeThatTransforms. Only one entry per person is allowed, with strict rules against copyrighted material, watermarks, and non-original content.
The contest aims to tap into Nigeria’s vibrant digital creator scene and foster stronger cultural and commercial links between the two countries. The United States remains a major trading partner for Nigeria, with collaboration spanning tech, agriculture, healthcare, entertainment, and consumer sectors. The initiative also aligns with ongoing U.S. support for Nigerian youth, digital innovation, and STEM education.
All contestants must complete an eligibility and release form verifying their age, creative ownership, and the consent of anyone featured in their skit. Noncompliance with these requirements or inclusion of offensive content leads to immediate disqualification. Employees of the U.S. Mission, American citizens, and organizations are barred from competing.
Entries must be submitted between December 1 and December 8 by uploading the video online and registering it at the contest’s official portal. Winners will be announced on December 12 based on creativity, theme relevance, storytelling, technical execution, and audience response. Finalists are required to provide additional publicity documents and a brief biography.
The grand prize is a professional video kit, including a Sony A7 IV camera, lens, memory card, and battery—intended to empower Nigeria’s next wave of digital storytellers. The U.S. Mission encourages entries to be entertaining, insightful, or educational, illustrating how American innovations are woven into the fabric of Nigerian life.
