Zenith Bank Plc has been named ‘Bank of the Year, Nigeria’ at The Banker’s prestigious Bank of the Year Awards 2024, held in London on Wednesday.
In a statement, the bank said the award, presented by The Banker Magazine, a part of the Financial Times Group, recognized its strong management, sound business model, and commitment to sustainability and ESG banking practices.
The Banker’s ‘Bank of the Year’ recognition is one of the most esteemed awards in the global banking industry.
Commenting on the award, Adaora Umeoji, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, expressed her pride, stating, “We are thrilled and honored to be named the Bank of the Year, Nigeria. Umeoji also acknowledged Jim Ovia, the bank’s founder and chairman, for his role in building a globally recognized institution known for innovation and superior performance.
Zenith Bank has earned numerous accolades in recent years, including being named the number one bank in Nigeria by Tier-1 capital for the fifteenth consecutive year in The Banker’s 2024 Top 1000 World Banks Ranking. The bank has also been awarded ‘Bank of the Year, Nigeria’ in 2020 and 2022, as well as ‘Most Sustainable Bank, Nigeria’ in both the 2023 and 2024 International Banker Banking Awards.
As part of its global expansion strategy, Zenith Bank opened a new branch in Paris in November 2024, underscoring its commitment to serving clients worldwide.
