Young Nigerians are being called upon to actively equip themselves for leadership responsibilities in both political and business landscapes, as part of a broader effort to shape the country’s future.
This message was delivered during a press briefing ahead of the upcoming “Freedom 2025” youth leadership training conference, set to take place on June 12 at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David, Trinity Towers, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Pastor Samuel Olaniyan, the RCCG Region 52 Overseer, emphasized that the conference seeks to energize Nigerian youths to participate meaningfully in the nation’s democratic process and reject the growing trend of political disengagement.
He noted that the event, designed as an intensive one-day leadership forum, aims to awaken young minds to their potential, spark civic involvement, and lay a foundation for greater influence in politics, governance, and economic development.
“If our youth are well-informed about the opportunities ahead, they will be better positioned to assume leadership roles and drive positive change in both the political and corporate spheres,” Olaniyan explained.
According to him, “Freedom 2025” focuses on mobilizing youth engagement in Nigerian politics, encouraging them to assume responsibility for the direction of the country. He highlighted the troubling level of disinterest among young citizens, attributing it to disillusionment with the current state of affairs.
“This initiative is designed to inspire self-reflection and stimulate renewed interest in governance and leadership. It incorporates mentorship opportunities in politics, entrepreneurship, and public administration,” he added.
Olaniyan emphasized that the conference also seeks to cultivate future leaders with integrity and purpose, who can contribute meaningfully to governance at various levels.
Attendees will benefit from the insights and mentorship of seasoned leaders, including Professor Johnson Odesola, the RCCG Continental Overseer for Continent 3, alongside current and former lawmakers.
Highlighting the importance of youth development to both the church and the nation, Pastor Olaniyan called on religious institutions to support the rise of responsible young leaders.
Delegates expected at the event include members from RCCG Regions 1, 36, and 52. Prominent among the organizing youth leaders are Pastor Abiola Abioye (Region 1), Pastor Adeleke Samuel (Region 52), and Pastor Paul Olaniyan.
