As part of its ongoing mission to uplift women in business, Women Impacting Nigeria (WIN) successfully concluded its AccelerateHer Outreach Initiative on March 22, 2025, in Bariga, Lagos, commemorating International Women’s Day 2025 in a deeply impactful way.
In partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, DevGlobal, Dev-Afrique, and GTCO, WIN supported 50 women entrepreneurs with tailored business training, financial education, and ₦50,000 micro-grants—each designed to accelerate their ventures and promote financial independence.
Empowerment Beyond a Day: A Sustained Commitment
Although the outreach was held in March, WIN continues to highlight its achievements into May, reinforcing its belief that women’s empowerment should not be celebrated on a single day, but pursued consistently and deliberately.
Themed “AccelerateHer: Empowering Women Through Financial Inclusion & Business Growth,” the event offered an enriching agenda led by experts who guided participants through essential topics including budgeting, digital finance, saving strategies, and business preparedness.
The workshops were tailored to meet the specific needs of various entrepreneurial sectors, focusing on practical areas such as sourcing raw materials, utilizing grants effectively, and launching viable business models.
Micro-Grants and Mentorship as Catalysts for Change
A highlight of the day was the Micro-Grant Award Ceremony, where 50 women each received ₦50,000 in seed funding to grow their businesses. This initiative was made possible through the generous support of Dev-Afrique and DevGlobal, whose dedication to locally-driven development aligned seamlessly with WIN’s mission.
“Our aim isn’t just to give capital but to provide lasting support that empowers women to lead in their communities,” said one WIN representative.
To ensure long-term impact, WIN also unveiled a Post-Event Mentorship Program, offering continuous business support, performance monitoring, and access to broader entrepreneurial networks. This mentorship element will help participants stay connected, motivated, and equipped for sustained success.

WIN’s founder, Adesuwa Imasekha, emphasized the deeper purpose behind the initiative:
“Empowering women is about more than business. It’s about building confidence, creating opportunities, and transforming lives. With AccelerateHer, we are not just funding ideas—we are cultivating leadership and agency in communities across Nigeria.”
She reiterated WIN’s commitment to long-term, actionable change, describing empowerment as an ongoing journey, not a one-time effort.
