Wakanow Nigeria, a leading travel technology company, reaffirmed its dedication to empowering Nigerians through income-generating opportunities in the travel industry at its Affiliate Forum held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
Themed “Sell Travel & Become a Millionaire,” the event was designed to equip aspiring travel entrepreneurs with the tools and training needed to succeed in Nigeria’s fast-evolving digital economy. Attendees received hands-on guidance on leveraging Wakanow’s proprietary technology to earn consistent income through travel bookings and services.
Empowerment Through Travel
In her keynote address, Adenike Macaulay, CEO of Wakanow Nigeria, emphasized the importance of alternative income streams in light of Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
“At Wakanow, we see travel not just as a service, but as an economic empowerment tool. The Affiliate Programme offers everyday Nigerians a practical path to financial independence,” she stated.
Macaulay highlighted that affiliates receive more than access to flight and hotel bookings—they are equipped with essential entrepreneurial skills, digital tools, and dedicated support to thrive.
Training the Next Generation of Travel Entrepreneurs
Participants were introduced to the Wakanow Affiliate Portal, trained on marketing strategies, customer acquisition techniques, and how to maximize commissions by selling a wide range of travel products. Many described the experience as “eye-opening” and left inspired by the income potential of the platform.
Shola Ipinmoroti, Wakanow’s Senior Vice President, Commercial, noted that the initiative aims to break down barriers that typically hinder entry into the travel business.
“With our programme, anyone can become a travel entrepreneur without the heavy costs or technical complexities of starting an agency,” she explained.
Wakanow’s Affiliate Programme enables individuals, businesses, and agencies to earn commissions by selling travel products via customized sales portals, tapping into Wakanow’s extensive inventory.
Nationwide Expansion and Broader Social Impact
As part of its broader market expansion, Wakanow will bring the Affiliate Forum to Ibadan on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Mauve 21 Events Centre, Ring Road, starting at 10:00 am—continuing its mission to train and empower aspiring entrepreneurs across Nigeria.
The Lagos forum also featured interactive sessions, live demonstrations, and valuable networking opportunities, further solidifying Wakanow’s role as a catalyst for inclusive economic growth.
Commitment to Community Through Wakacares
Beyond business, Wakanow is also making an impact through Wakacares, its corporate social responsibility arm. On World Water Day 2025 (March 22), the company supported the “Hydrate for Health” campaign, distributing 20,000 branded water bottles across Lagos.
The initiative, led by the H₂O Wellness Campaign, aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of hydration and advocate for better access to clean water. Volunteers distributed water in busy areas, offices, and malls while educating Lagosians on healthy water consumption habits.
“Access to clean water is a basic human right. We’re proud to have played a part in promoting this message,” said Macaulay.
“It reflects our broader vision for a healthier and more sustainable society.”
Karz Janet, convener of the campaign, expressed gratitude to Wakanow, noting that the company’s support was pivotal to the campaign’s success.
By combining economic empowerment with community-driven initiatives, Wakanow continues to prove itself not just as a travel leader, but as a brand deeply committed to uplifting Nigerians on all fronts.
