In a sparkling event at The Anthonia, Ikoyi, Nigeria marked the 4th edition of the Veuve Clicquot Bold Woman Award, an initiative that spotlights women who challenge conventions, innovate fearlessly, and inspire change. This year, Remi Martins-Johnson, founder and CEO of Texture Science Lab, was recognized for her groundbreaking work in beauty and wellness tailored to African hair and skin.

For the first time in Nigeria, the ceremony also introduced the Bold Future Award, presented to Funmilola Aderemi and Teniola Tunde-Oni, co-founders of PharmaRun, a digital health-tech startup transforming access to essential medicines across the country.

Remi Martins-Johnson: Championing Innovation in Beauty

Remi Martins-Johnson has built a brand that merges scientific research with entrepreneurial vision. Through Texture Science Lab, she develops products that celebrate natural African textures, promote inclusivity, and expand global representation in beauty and wellness.

Reflecting on her journey, Remi stated:

“Boldness is standing firm in your vision, even when the odds seem insurmountable. It is about leading with purpose and creating a pathway for others to follow.”

Her award underscores her commitment not just to business success, but to empowering women in STEM fields and advocating for representation in science and innovation.

Funmilola Aderemi & Teniola Tunde-Oni: Pioneering Health-Tech

The inaugural Bold Future Award celebrated Funmilola and Teniola for their work with PharmaRun, which addresses critical gaps in Nigeria’s healthcare system. Their platform connects patients, pharmacies, and healthcare providers, ensuring safe, affordable, and timely access to medicines.

The duo embodies bold entrepreneurship, demonstrating resilience and creative problem-solving in tackling systemic healthcare challenges. Funmilola explains:

“Being bold is daring to innovate in spaces where people say change is impossible.”
Teniola adds:
“Boldness is creating solutions that deliver dignity, hope, and access for everyone.”

A Celebration of Leadership and Community

Leye Adeniji, General Manager of Moët Hennessy Nigeria, highlighted the broader purpose of the awards:

“These awards honor women who lead with vision, inspire change, and leave lasting legacies. Remi, Funmilola, and Teniola exemplify the spirit of bold leadership, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements.”

The event also reinforced Veuve Clicquot’s global commitment to connecting women entrepreneurs through the Bold Open Database, an open-access platform providing mentorship, networking, and resources for ambitious female leaders. Nigerian women are encouraged to join via www.boldopendatabase.com/en.

About Veuve Clicquot Bold

Launched in 1972 as a tribute to Madame Clicquot, the Bold program celebrates women who redefine leadership and create impact. Active in 27 countries, the initiative brings together over 450 women, fostering mentorship, visibility, and inspiration across generations. The Bold Woman Award and Bold Future Award continue to champion female entrepreneurs who are shaping industries and communities worldwide.
