As part of the #16DaysofActivism against Gender-Based Violence 2025 campaign, UNDP Nigeria has officially opened applications for youth innovators. The agency has issued a nationwide call seeking already tested, operational, and innovative tech solutions designed to prevent, detect, respond to, or monitor digital violence targeting women and girls throughout Nigeria.
According to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the objective of this initiative is to “spotlight, support and amplify” a group of technologically skilled, creative, and innovative young change agents who are actively developing gender-responsive concepts to address online abuse.
Eligibility for the initiative is aimed at young Nigerian startup founders, social innovators, innovation hubs, and labs that are creating models—whether purely technology-based or technology-enabled—to address four specific categories of online risks: content risks, contact risks, conduct risks, and contract risks. The UNDP has strongly encouraged applications from teams that are youth-led and/or women-led.
All innovators who are shortlisted will participate in the campaign. Crucially, the top six finalists will gain visibility through being showcased across UNDP’s various platforms, featured at its Lagos Innovation Center, and invited to a national multi-stakeholder showcase event. The UNDP noted that only applicants who are shortlisted will be contacted.
The final deadline for submitting applications is Friday, 12th December 2025.
