A new call is out for innovators who build with purpose. “Take the Risk,” the entrepreneurial fellowship founded by Akinyemi Akinro (Loverboyakin), has officially opened applications for its second cohort, aiming to identify and equip a new wave of founders dedicated to solving pressing economic and social challenges.
This initiative is more than a competition; it is an ecosystem builder. Following a highly successful first edition that supported over 1,100 entrepreneurs and deployed $325,000 in direct funding, the fellowship is doubling down on its mission to transform ambitious ideas into scalable, impact-driven enterprises.
A Conduit for Capital and Confidence
The program’s philosophy centers on bridging the critical gap that stifles too many promising ventures. As Founder Akinyemi Akinro explains, the barrier is often not a lack of vision, but a lack of access.
“Many brilliant ideas never get the chance to grow… because they lack access to capital, guidance, and the confidence to take meaningful risks,” Akinro stated. “Our role is to identify that spark and provide the structure and support needed to turn ambition into real impact.”
The fellowship is designed as a comprehensive pipeline. Selected candidates will embark on a multi-stage journey, beginning with a rigorous two-week immersive bootcamp. This intensive experience will culminate in a pitch presentation before a curated audience of investors and industry leaders, where fellows will compete for seed investment and long-term mentorship.
Forging a Community of Courageous Thinkers
The vision for “Take the Risk” extends beyond individual company growth. It seeks to cultivate a interconnected community of founders who lead with purpose and are committed to creating value that uplifts their communities.
“True empowerment does not stop at the individual level. It spreads, strengthens communities, and sets the foundation for generational change,” Akinro emphasized.
This reflects the program’s core belief that impact-driven entrepreneurship is a powerful catalyst for long-term prosperity, both within Nigeria and across the global African diaspora.
The application window for this transformative opportunity is now open and will run through 2025. The selection process, including shortlisting and interviews, is scheduled for 2026, marking a deliberate and thorough search for the most promising and dedicated founders ready to take the leap.
