In an era where many Nigerian stars take their biggest milestones abroad, Natasha Akide, better known as Tacha, chose to make a bold statement — home is where greatness begins.
When the reality TV icon and entrepreneur decided to attempt a Guinness World Record for the most makeovers in 24 hours, she could have done it anywhere. London was on the table, complete with international sponsors and global exposure. Yet, she chose Lagos, not out of convenience, but conviction.
“London won’t give me the vibes I want,” she explained during an interview with influencer Egungun at the Tacha Beauty Festival. “I had offers from international brands, but it always makes sense to carry your country along.”
That decision transformed what could have been a quiet record-breaking attempt into a celebration of Nigerian creativity, resilience, and beauty entrepreneurship.
From Saturday night through Sunday morning, Lagos pulsed with energy as brushes, palettes, and cameras captured Tacha’s record-setting journey — 115 makeovers within 12 hours, shattering the previous 24-hour world record of 113 before the day was even halfway through.
But beyond the numbers, the real victory was symbolic. Tacha’s effort spotlighted the ingenuity of Nigerian makeup artists, the collaborative strength of local talent, and the boundless possibilities within Africa’s beauty industry.
The record attempt formed part of the three-day Tacha Beauty Festival, running from October 10 to 12, designed as more than an event — it’s a movement blending beauty, culture, and entrepreneurship. It celebrates how Nigerian creatives are not just participants in global trends but pioneers shaping the industry from their own soil.
Tacha’s Lagos attempt wasn’t merely about proving endurance or breaking limits. It was a declaration — that Nigeria doesn’t need to seek validation abroad to shine globally.
