In the face of persistent inflation and a turbulent economy, small business owners in Nigeria are navigating some of the toughest conditions in recent memory. But for Oshorinde Olabimpe Shekinat, founder and CEO of Spin Laundry Lounge, resilience and creativity have become the foundation of her entrepreneurial journey.

A graduate of Ekiti State University with a degree in Business Education (Marketing), Olabimpe has carved out a niche in Lagos’ bustling service sector. Her company, Spin Laundry Lounge, offers comprehensive laundry care—from washing and drying to folding and delivery—tailored to meet the needs of busy urban customers.

“Laundry is an essential service,” she said. “But not everyone has the time or tools to handle it. What we do is give people peace of mind and the freedom to focus on other parts of their lives.”

Running a business in Nigeria, however, is far from easy. Frequent power outages, soaring energy bills, unpredictable supply costs, and logistical headaches are just some of the hurdles she has had to overcome. Still, Olabimpe remains steadfast.

“There were times I seriously thought about quitting,” she recalled. “Having to run generators daily, deal with the rising cost of materials—it can be exhausting. But I kept reminding myself of the purpose behind it all: making people’s lives easier.”

Her educational background in marketing has helped her stand out in a competitive market. By building strong customer relationships, encouraging word-of-mouth recommendations, and using social media to promote her services, Olabimpe has grown Spin Laundry Lounge’s reach throughout Lagos.

She credits consistency, attention to detail, and customer satisfaction as the core pillars behind her business growth.

In a country where launching and sustaining a business demands both toughness and adaptability, Oshorinde Olabimpe is proving that it’s possible to rise above the chaos—one freshly folded shirt at a time.
