The Stanbic IBTC Group, in collaboration with the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan-Atlantic University, hosted a transformative edition of Bloom Weekend, aimed at equipping female entrepreneurs with essential skills and knowledge to grow and sustain their businesses.
Held under the inspiring theme “Bloom Into More,” the event focused on capacity development, entrepreneurial training, and creating a strong network of support for women-led businesses.
Jumoke Bello, Head of Enterprise at Stanbic IBTC Bank, emphasized the initiative’s commitment to female empowerment.
“This platform is about working together to uplift women—promoting and empowering women-led enterprises. Through Bloom Weekend, we support and celebrate women, enabling them to thrive, prosper, and scale their ventures.”
More Than Finance: Building Business Fundamentals
In his keynote, Dr. Stanley Ibeko, Lead of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning at EDC, highlighted that while access to finance is critical, female entrepreneurs also need solid business structures, market-readiness, and sound marketing strategies.
“Finance is powerful, but without the right business structure and market access, sustainable growth remains elusive. Our goal is to ensure women are not just funded, but equipped to manage and expand their businesses successfully.”
A Holistic Support Framework
Bunmi Dayo-Olagunju, Deputy Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank, spoke about the bank’s ongoing support for women-owned startups and SMEs.
“Financial empowerment is just one part of the journey. Without the right structures in place, growth can quickly become overwhelming. That’s why we’re investing in capacity building, mentorship, and long-term support frameworks that help female entrepreneurs manage and sustain their growth.”
LATTES: Creating a Safe Space for Women’s Voices
The event also featured the Ladies at the Table Empowerment Series (LATTES)—an initiative of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, designed to foster meaningful dialogue among women about leadership, personal development, and future aspirations.
Lara Osunsoko, Executive Director of Operations at Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, noted:
“LATTES is about creating safe, empowering spaces where women can lead conversations about their futures, share experiences, and build connections that matter.”
Driving Inclusive Growth Through Empowerment
The Bloom Weekend initiative reflects Stanbic IBTC’s broader mission to drive inclusive economic growth by supporting women in entrepreneurship. Through partnerships like that with EDC, the bank is not only providing financial resources but also ensuring women have the knowledge, tools, and networks necessary to thrive in today’s business landscape.
