The Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP), in partnership with Ecobank Nigeria, has announced a three-day Entrepreneurship Business Training Workshop aimed at small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the solar energy sector. The workshop will take place in Abuja from March 10 to March 12.
According to a joint statement from the partners, this training will empower 50 SMEs with the technical, financial, and business management skills needed to thrive in the rapidly growing renewable energy industry. ROGEAP is funded by the World Bank, the Clean Technology Fund, and the Directorate General for International Cooperation of the Netherlands, and it is implemented by ECOWAS through a project fund manager.
Participants in this initiative will gain in-depth knowledge of the off-grid solar value chain, quality assurance, environmental and social risk management, business model development, and access to financial opportunities, such as ROGEAP grants and credit lines.
Salamatu Baba Tunzwang, the ESF Team Lead at ROGEAP, highlighted the significance of the workshop, stating, “This workshop is a crucial step toward advancing sustainable energy access and business growth in Nigeria. By equipping SMEs with the right tools and knowledge, we are empowering them to drive economic development while expanding access to clean energy solutions.”
Tunde Dawodu, Divisional Head of FCT/North at Ecobank Nigeria, added, “At Ecobank, we are excited about this collaboration, as the workshop aligns with our ongoing efforts to support SME growth. This training will be invaluable for our SME customers involved in solar installations and sales. It complements our ELLEVATE Programme and Single Market Trade Hub, providing them with access to customized financial products, digital tools, and strategic guidance to expand into broader markets.”
ROGEAP’s mission is to enhance access to sustainable energy across 12 ECOWAS member countries and seven additional African nations by developing a regional market for off-grid solar products and supporting stakeholders throughout the value chain.
