More than 1,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from across Nigeria are expected to gather in Abuja for the 2025 Convergence Africa Conference, an initiative aimed at empowering entrepreneurs and reshaping business thinking in the country.
Organized by Portal Limited, a non-governmental organization, the conference is scheduled for Thursday, May 8, 2025, and will bring together key players in the hospitality, food, fashion, and fitness sectors for an immersive and transformative business experience.
Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja, Patience Olusuyi, CEO of Portal Limited, highlighted the importance of SMEs forging sustainable partnerships with multinational corporations to strengthen their growth and longevity.
“This project is about tearing down outdated business models and building sustainable enterprises that go beyond the founder’s efforts,” Olusuyi stated. “We want entrepreneurs to start thinking about succession from the very beginning, and how to build resilient businesses that can weather economic storms.”
The Convergence Africa (TCA) Project, now in its latest edition, has been preceded by the Impact Tour 2025, a nationwide outreach initiative that visited multiple states. During the tour, the TCA team engaged directly with entrepreneurs from diverse sectors, listening to their stories and exploring common challenges and growth opportunities.
“This tour helped raise awareness and build meaningful networks ahead of the main convergence,” Olusuyi explained. “It was also a platform to boost visibility and lay the groundwork for deeper collaborations.”
The 2025 conference promises a high-impact experience featuring industry-focused masterclasses, podcasts with business leaders, immersive sessions, and thought-provoking discussions. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain insights from top decision-makers, innovators, and experts in their fields.
According to Olusuyi, the event is designed to “uncover hidden synergies, break down outdated industry barriers, and foster strategic partnerships that unlock exponential business growth.”
The Convergence Africa Conference positions itself as more than just an event—it is a catalyst for entrepreneurial transformation and sustainable economic development in Nigeria.
