When Ola Oyetayo co-founded Verto in 2017, he set out to solve one of the most stubborn challenges facing African and emerging market businesses — moving money efficiently across borders.
Today, as CEO of Verto, the Nigerian-born accountant and entrepreneur leads a London-based financial technology firm that’s redefining how companies conduct international transactions.
Simplifying Global Payments for Emerging Markets
Verto operates as a B2B cross-border payment and foreign exchange platform, enabling businesses to convert, receive, and settle transactions in multiple currencies through a unified infrastructure. The company’s mission is simple yet powerful: to make international payments as seamless for businesses in Lagos or Nairobi as they are in London or New York.
Through its platform, Verto offers multi-currency business accounts equipped with localized IBANs, allowing companies to operate smoothly across diverse financial systems. Businesses can also access real-time exchange rates, liquidity sources, and tools for managing currency exposure — all in one place.
With operations spanning over 190 countries and a growing customer base of more than 1,000 businesses, from startups to multinational corporations, Verto facilitates millions of dollars in transactions annually, strengthening trade connections across continents.
A Leader Forged in Global Finance
Oyetayo’s path to fintech leadership was built on a solid foundation in global finance. After an early internship at Carphone Warehouse, he joined American Express in 2008 as a financial analyst. Two years later, he transitioned to Barclays Corporate Banking as an assistant vice president, and in 2013, joined Lloyds Banking Group’s treasury division, sharpening his expertise in liquidity and risk management.
By 2016, he had taken up a director role at Arbitrage Capital, a UK-based investment firm, where he guided portfolio strategies and capital structures before fully dedicating himself to scaling Verto’s global operations.
Building Financial Bridges Across Borders
For Oyetayo, Verto is more than a payments company — it’s an engine for inclusion and efficiency in global commerce. By creating reliable financial pathways for businesses in underserved markets, the platform helps bridge the gap between Africa and the global economy.
Under his leadership, Verto continues to expand its reach and strengthen its infrastructure, ensuring that African businesses can trade globally without financial barriers.
In a world where seamless international payments are becoming the backbone of digital trade, Ola Oyetayo stands at the forefront — empowering companies to move money, grow faster, and connect globally with confidence.
