In recognition of her enduring impact on Nigeria’s marketing and communications space, Odiri Erewa-Meggison, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Director at British American Tobacco (BAT) West and Central Africa, has been honoured as the Corporate and Brands Communications Personality of the Decade by Marketing Edge Publications Limited.
The recognition highlights her trailblazing contributions to corporate strategy, stakeholder relations, and brand leadership — qualities that have positioned her as one of the most influential voices in corporate affairs across Africa’s private sector.
A trained lawyer and Chartered Secretary, Erewa-Meggison holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Kent, Canterbury, and brings over two decades of cross-sector experience covering oil and gas, telecommunications, and manufacturing.
Since joining BAT Nigeria in 2006, she has steadily advanced through strategic roles within the organisation and its global network. Her career has spanned multiple regions — from Head of Government Affairs for West Africa to international assignments in Indonesia and leadership positions overseeing corporate, legal, and regulatory initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Americas.
Returning to Nigeria in 2021, Erewa-Meggison took on her current position, where she continues to shape BAT’s external engagement and sustainability vision across West and Central Africa. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to transparency, responsible business, and inclusive growth — principles at the heart of BAT’s global transformation agenda.
Under her guidance, BAT has strengthened its sustainability framework anchored on five strategic pillars — Harm Reduction, Climate, Nature, Circularity, and Communities — driving corporate initiatives that balance innovation, social responsibility, and economic progress.
