Nigerian startup founders now have a golden opportunity to compete on the world stage, as applications for the 2025 Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC) are officially open. With over $1 million in cash prizes and substantial investment opportunities available, early-stage entrepreneurs stand a chance to secure up to $250,000 in funding.

A Global Stage for Visionary Entrepreneurs

Co-hosted by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) and Saudi Arabia’s Monsha’at (Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority), the EWC is one of the largest and most inclusive startup pitch competitions globally. Since its inception in 2019, the program has awarded more than $4 million in cash and over $250 million in perks, mentorship, and startup support to founders in over 200 countries.

This year’s edition promises to be the most impactful yet, as it introduces new sector-specific awards and aims to connect the most promising innovators with global investors and ecosystem enablers.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible:

  • Startups must be less than 10 years old and legally registered, or in the process of registering in their home country.

  • The competition is open to all industries and sectors, with specific prizes for emerging fields.

  • Nigerian entrepreneurs meeting these criteria are encouraged to apply and showcase their innovations on a global platform.

Note: Previous winners may reapply in different categories, but not in the category they won previously. Employees of the organizing bodies and their relatives are not eligible.

Prize Breakdown – What’s at Stake?

  •  1st Place: $250,000

  •  2nd Place: $200,000

  •  3rd Place: $150,000

  • Agriculture & Resource Management

Idea Stage Startups

  • Champion: $50,000

  • 2nd Place: $25,000

How to Apply

Entrepreneurs can submit their applications via the official Entrepreneurship World Cup website.
Deadline: June 30, 2025

Why This Matters for Nigeria

With Nigeria’s booming startup scene and a growing pool of talented entrepreneurs, platforms like the EWC offer a powerful launchpad. The competition not only provides funding but also access to global networks, visibility, and mentorship critical for scaling impactful businesses.

If you’re building the next big idea—now is the time to pitch it to the world.
