Nigeria’s vibrant event industry is gearing up for a transformative international gathering as top professionals converge for the fifth edition of The Event Industry Conference (TEIC 5.0), a groundbreaking summit aimed at expanding horizons and sparking innovative thinking within the sector.
Slated for September 27–28, 2022, the two-day experience will unfold across two major venues in Ikeja, Lagos — Sheba Centre on Mobolaji Bank-Anthony Way and Whitestone on Billings Way. Themed “Globalisation: See Outside the Box to Think Outside the Box”, the conference invites attendees to challenge traditional boundaries and adopt a global mindset in their approach to event management.
TEIC 5.0, curated by the Association of Professional Party Organisers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN), promises a multifaceted experience. In addition to the main sessions, the conference will feature exclusive masterclasses, networking socials, a charitable outreach (CSR), and a formal dinner — all designed to elevate professional standards and encourage collaborative growth.
With over 15 years of experience shaping Nigeria’s event landscape, APPOEMN has remained a unifying force for planners, coordinators, and service providers alike. This year’s event aims to foster deeper connections across the industry while exposing participants to global trends and business models.
Mrs. Adefunke Kuyoro, APPOEMN President, emphasized the timeliness of this year’s theme. “This is the moment to reach beyond our local borders. The Event Industry Conference offers the perfect launchpad for professionals ready to think globally and act boldly,” she said.
Reflecting on the evolving dynamics of the industry, Kuyoro added, “Events are deeply embedded in our cultural identity, but recent shifts have fueled a fusion of traditional values with international innovations. Our sector is now receiving increased media visibility — both online and offline — highlighting the need for a strong professional network like APPOEMN.”
Ms. Bose Abisagboola, Chairperson of TEIC and Public Relations Director at APPOEMN, shared that the conference was designed to nurture a sense of unity among practitioners. “Our goal is to cultivate a relaxed yet enriching environment where professionals can share expertise, refine their craft, and collectively elevate the standard of events produced within and beyond Nigeria.”
She further noted that TEIC 5.0 would emphasize the importance of strategic alliances and collaborative efforts as key drivers for international success. “This conference isn’t just a gathering; it’s a movement towards positioning Nigeria’s event professionals on the global stage,” Abisagboola said.
TEIC 5.0 will offer both in-person and virtual participation, enabling widespread access to high-impact sessions on current issues within the events and hospitality space. Attendees will benefit from expert-led panels, technical discussions, and dynamic poster presentations covering innovations and best practices.
The conference also promises ample networking opportunities, creating an ideal setting for building lasting connections and professional collaborations.
In a final call to action, APPOEMN encouraged event professionals, vendors, and aspiring planners to register for TEIC 5.0 and nominate their team leaders to attend. They also urged stakeholders to help amplify awareness around the event, describing it as a pivotal moment for those aiming to scale up and operate on a global platform.
