Nigeria’s agricultural sector is set to take the spotlight globally as preparations intensify for the 7th Nigeria International Agriculture Expo (NIAEXPO 2025), scheduled to hold in Abuja. The event is expected to highlight the nation’s agribusiness capacity, attract investments, and strengthen trade relations across continents.
According to Mr. Abiodun Olaniyi, Project Coordinator of NIAEXPO, the 2025 edition themed “Showcasing Nigeria’s Agricultural Potential on a Global Stage” will go beyond exhibitions to serve as a hub for innovation, knowledge-sharing, and international collaboration.
He noted that the expo would spotlight solutions to challenges that have long limited the sector’s growth, including post-harvest losses, limited financing, and weak supply chain systems. With participants expected from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and several African nations, the event will position Nigeria as a key agribusiness hub on the continent.
In his words, the expo will emphasize digital agriculture, agro-logistics, women’s participation, and market linkages that connect local farmers to international buyers. Crops such as broccoli, cauliflower, moringa, cashew, cocoa, sugarcane, and mushrooms will receive special focus for their untapped economic potential.
The programme will also feature an organic and agroecology education forum, creating a platform for dialogue on sustainability and global food security.
Mr. Adekunle Adamson, Regional Project Lead, revealed that inclusivity is central to the 2025 edition. Activities such as Farmers’ Day and the Women Entrepreneurship Hub will provide practical training, networking opportunities, and exposure to new techniques for farmers, women, and youth in agribusiness.
“From product registration to branding and marketing, we are equipping women-led agribusinesses to scale their ventures while making Nigerian products more competitive internationally,” Adamson explained.
By bringing together stakeholders, innovators, and investors, NIAEXPO 2025 aims to redefine Nigeria’s role in shaping the future of agriculture on the global stage.
