Nigeria is stepping into the spotlight of Africa’s lighting industry after local firms closed over ₦600 million in business agreements at the 2025 International Lighting Exhibition, which wrapped up in Lagos on Friday.
The three-day expo, themed “Zero-Carbon Lighting: Supporting Nigeria’s Energy Transition Goals,” drew more than 3,000 professionals and over 100 global companies, showcasing the latest innovations in energy-efficient lighting and smart technology.
Organiser Zhongshan Company Ltd. confirmed that major breakthroughs were recorded. Among them, VellMax and Solar-Sunbest Integrated Services Ltd. received intent orders valued at ₦100 million, while six other companies—including MXS Home, Buchi Lighting, Great Future, Cieto Lighting, De Solid Vision, and De King—entered strategic partnerships estimated at ₦500 million annually.
General Manager Lisa Lin Xueying described the results as a turning point in China-Africa cooperation on lighting solutions. “This year’s achievements prove that the partnership has moved from ideas to real business impact, firmly positioning Nigeria as Africa’s lighting hub,” she said.
The exhibition also hosted 20+ exhibitors and ten technical forums on topics ranging from tax policies to investment opportunities for firms eyeing the Nigerian market. Organisers announced plans for 2026, including the launch of an Africa Lighting Industry Alliance and a China-Africa Technology Transfer Centre to deepen cooperation.
The next edition of the exhibition is scheduled for September 16–18, 2026, in Lagos.
For many entrepreneurs, the expo was more than just deals—it was transformative. Anthony Ifeanyi, CEO of Cieto Lighting, secured a ₦100 million distributorship and praised the organisers for creating sustainable opportunities for local players. Similarly, MXS Home’s Managing Director, Agochukwu Elijah, described his partnership as “a prayer answered” for his expansion goals.
Industry leaders also took note of the event’s broader significance. Chief Casmir Emenine, President of the Lagos Island Electrical Dealers Association (LIEDA), highlighted how the showcase reflected the merging of lighting with architecture, design, and artificial intelligence to improve comfort, safety, and efficiency.
