Nigeria’s biggest film and creative stars are set to captivate the world stage at this year’s GUBA Awards and Cultural Showcase in Barbados, where African heritage meets Caribbean flair. The event promises a fusion of glamour, emotion, and artistic brilliance — complete with dazzling fashion moments, heartfelt tributes, and a special feature by Nollywood legend Sola Sobowale, whose presence has sparked excitement among fans across Barbados.
Joining her are acclaimed filmmakers and actors Tola Odunsi and Stan Nze, whose participation highlights the global reach and storytelling excellence of Nigeria’s creative industry.
Nigeria’s Global Influence Takes the Spotlight
This year’s GUBA edition is poised to become a defining moment for Nigeria on the global stage. Organisers revealed that Nigerians make up the largest number of early summit registrations, with participants including top government officials, business leaders, and entertainment powerhouses from across the country.
Backed by the Office of the Prime Minister of Barbados, the summit will host changemakers from Africa’s largest economy, the CARICOM region, and diaspora communities across the Americas. Key Barbados institutions — including the Tourism Marketing Inc., Invest Barbados, the National Cultural Foundation, and the Chamber of Commerce — are working together to strengthen Afro-Caribbean cooperation through trade, culture, and innovation.
Seamless Travel for Delegates
To ease travel between both regions, GUBA has arranged a direct charter flight from Lagos to Barbados via Accra, eliminating the need for transits through Europe or North America. The initiative has seen high demand among Nigerian entrepreneurs, creatives, and executives eager to participate in the historic event.
Beyond the Glamour — A Mission of Purpose
GUBA’s Founder and President, Lady Dentaa Amoateng, described the occasion as far more than an awards ceremony.
“Nigerian businesses and creatives have dominated African markets and earned global recognition. The Caribbean is our next frontier — a bridge of shared heritage and opportunity,” she said.
The summit will serve as a platform for partnerships, trade agreements, and cross-continental investment in industries such as entertainment, fashion, fintech, agriculture, and renewable energy.
A New Chapter for Black Excellence
From Afrobeats to Nollywood blockbusters, Nigeria’s cultural power continues to redefine global entertainment. The GUBA Awards in Barbados will not only celebrate outstanding achievements but also symbolize the unbreakable bond between Africa and the Caribbean.
As Sola Sobowale, Tola Odunsi, and Stan Nze step into the global spotlight, one truth stands out — Nigeria isn’t just part of the story of Black excellence; it’s leading the narrative into a new era.
