As Germany faces a looming workforce crisis, a new international education initiative promises to open doors for Nigerian students to gain global skills—and secure high-demand jobs in Europe.
Nexford University and Constructor University have joined forces to launch a transformative academic pathway designed to link Nigeria’s aspiring graduates with real career prospects in Germany and beyond. The partnership aims to address Europe’s growing need for skilled labor while offering Nigerian learners a more accessible route to international qualifications and employment.
Bridging Two Worlds Through Hybrid Learning
Starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, Nigerian students can begin their academic journey by completing up to 50% of their degree online with Nexford University, a U.S.-accredited institution known for flexible, career-focused programs. They will then transfer to Constructor University in Bremen, Germany, to finish their studies on-campus—gaining both academic excellence and global exposure.
The program applies to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. For master’s students, the collaboration offers the possibility of earning dual degrees recognized by both institutions through an integrated curriculum.
“This model removes traditional barriers like high upfront costs and visa hurdles,” said Fadl Al Tarzi, CEO of Nexford University. “It allows students to start their academic journey affordably at home before transitioning abroad for international experience and employment opportunities.”
Germany’s Labor Market, Nigeria’s Opportunity
Germany is expected to face a shortage of 7 million skilled professionals by 2035, particularly in STEM industries. This shortage coincides with Nigeria’s challenge of placing hundreds of thousands of university graduates into jobs each year.
With over 209,000 open positions in STEM alone, Nigerian graduates completing the program stand to benefit from high employability. Constructor University boasts an impressive employment rate of 78% across Europe, with 70% of graduates landing jobs within three months of finishing their degrees. Top employers include major global firms like Google, Amazon, Deloitte, Accenture, and Roche.
Moreover, program graduates will meet the criteria for an 18-month German post-study work visa, offering them a clear pathway to begin building careers in Europe.
Affordability Meets Accessibility
Affordability is a cornerstone of the initiative. Students start with Nexford’s low-cost, fixed tuition structure while studying from Nigeria, significantly reducing the financial burden. Once in Germany, students from Nexford automatically qualify for scholarship consideration at Constructor University.
“This program brings together the strengths of both institutions to offer a flexible, affordable, and globally relevant education,” said Turgut Tülü, Chancellor of Constructor University. “It’s designed to empower Nigerian youth while supporting Bremen’s goal of becoming a global talent hub.”
Beyond Graduation: Careers, Connections, and Global Impact
Graduates will be uniquely equipped to:
-
Enter high-demand industries across Europe
-
Launch ventures that bridge European and Nigerian markets
-
Return to Nigeria with globally relevant skills and networks
Whether students pursue careers abroad or at home, the program ensures they are future-ready and globally competitive.
