Nestlé Nigeria recently emerged victorious at the Employers’ Excellence Awards 2024, organized by the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), securing the prestigious “NECA Excellence Award in Food & Beverages (Food) category.” The company was also honored with the “Visible Impact Award for Investment in SDG and Green Projects,” recognizing its outstanding commitment to sustainability.
The Employers’ Excellence Awards celebrates businesses that have made significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy while prioritizing employee well-being, inclusivity, diversity, and sustainability in a challenging business environment.
Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, Director-General of NECA, remarked, “The Employers’ Excellence Award has become a beacon of inspiration for companies in Nigeria, demonstrating that businesses can thrive by nurturing their workforce, investing in innovation, and giving back to the community. Nestlé has set a remarkable example of delivering positive impact for their people and the environment while successfully navigating today’s business challenges.”
In a noteworthy achievement, Nestlé Nigeria also triumphed at the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN) Human Resources Best Practices OSCAR Awards in October 2024, winning 11 out of 15 categories.
“We are deeply honored to receive these prestigious awards,” said Mr. Shakiru Lawal, Country Human Resources Manager at Nestlé Nigeria. “This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to nurturing our most valuable asset—our people—through open, respectful environments, continuous development opportunities, and access to coaching and mentorship.”
Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Manager at Nestlé Nigeria, added, “Our success is tied to the well-being of our employees, communities, and the planet. We remain dedicated to creating shared value, empowering our people, and driving sustainable growth.”
Nestlé Nigeria continues to make significant strides in workforce development and sustainability. The company remains the first and only in Nigeria to achieve plastics neutrality, successfully removing 1 ton of plastic packaging from the environment for every ton produced. It also continues transitioning to recyclable materials and has launched initiatives to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, saving over 46,729 GJ of energy and reducing 5,274 tons of CO2 equivalent.
Through these efforts, Nestlé Nigeria sets a remarkable example for businesses committed to both people and planet.
